Caring for
the Elderly

Regular love drives to old age homes — bringing companionship, care, and the warmth of God's love to those who gave so much to us.

About the Programme

Our Elderly Care programme is built on a simple truth: the elderly deserve to feel seen, valued, and loved. Many residents of old age homes across Mamelodi receive few visitors and face their final years in loneliness. JCK Life Changers changes that — one visit at a time.

We conduct regular care drives to old age homes, bringing food, hygiene products, clothing, and most importantly — our presence. We believe that love is not only shown through material provision; it is shown by sitting with someone, listening to their stories, and reminding them that they matter.

What We Bring

  • Nutritious food — cooked meals and food parcels
  • Hygiene products — soap, toiletries, and personal care items
  • Clothing and blankets, especially in winter
  • Prayer, songs, and spiritual encouragement
  • Time — sitting with residents, listening, and sharing
  • Activities and entertainment to bring joy and laughter

The Need

Loneliness among the elderly is a silent crisis. Studies consistently show that chronic loneliness has health effects comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. For many elderly people in old age homes, days can pass without a meaningful interaction with another person outside of basic care routines.

JCK Life Changers volunteers come not as charity workers but as family — because these elders are our grandparents in community. They loved this land before we did. They deserve to be loved back.

How It Works

Teams of volunteers from JCK Church coordinate with old age home management to schedule regular visits. We bring donations collected from church members and supporters. During visits, we share meals, lead worship, pray with residents, and simply spend quality time with them.

These visits are not one-off events — we are committed to ongoing, consistent presence. Many of our volunteers develop personal relationships with specific residents, bringing consistency and genuine love.

Regular Visits

We conduct scheduled visits on an ongoing basis — not once a year, but consistently throughout the year.

Companionship First

We believe the greatest gift we can bring is our time and presence — material gifts are secondary to human connection.

Spiritual Care

Prayer, worship, and the Word of God are central to every visit — we care for the whole person, not just the body.

Our Heart

"They loved us before we understood love. The least we can do is show them love before it is too late."
